Wayne (Zombie) Johnston

Wayne (Zombie) Johnston worked at Jackson Surfboards in the early 70’s, as well as muti tasking he even had a hand in building the brick back walls of the factory. A former top Aussie Ametuer performer Zombie was known around town for his skill on his Norton motorbike. Wayne earned his knickname from his workmate Gordon “Greasy” Merchant because of the way he walked around the factory…like a Zombie. Wayne is unfortunately another one of Cronulla’s growing list of local surfing legends who sadly died well before his time. 1952 to 2013.Photo Jack Eden.
