Rusty Moran in the 90’s was a dedicated Christian surfer who used to regularily take risks that many other riders would not dream about. Like surfing massive Cloudbreaks in Hawaii and paddling out to 20ft plus Waimea on your first trip aged 17 or night surfing on full moons. When Rusty hooked up with photographer Jon Frank it was a match made in heaven as Franky is just as crazy as Rusty when it comes to pushing boundaries. Photo Frank Circa 90’s.

Years honing his skills on Cronulla’s heavy reefs and a natural love of ocean power made RustyMoran’s transition to Hawaii’s Northshore a natural progression. Below Rusty tunnel time at Backdoor. Photo Around January ’94 by Chris Stroh

Most photos you see of Rusty Moran he is going right. On a good sized day at Pipe in Hawaii while trying to pick off the bombs at Backdoor Rusty found himself in perfect position to snavel an inside Bansaii barrel from the hungry pack, Photo Stroh taken around winter 94/95
