Herbie was a likeable character who could light up a room with his smile and his presence. He was a fearless Cronulla Point standout throughout the 70’s and 80’s on the biggest days and a fine shaper as well. Photo of the typical Herb stance at The Point by Chris Stroh Circa 80’s.

Herbie shaped under the Huzza Wuzza custom label for surfboard brands like G&S, Waterforce and Emerald and had a strong following around Cronulla. He was a regular standout at The Point and Shark Island in the 70’s and 80’s and had a reputation for charging. He passed away due to health problems in 2006. This watershot of Herbie taken by Peter Simons featured in a Cronulla Point story called The Power and The Glory in which Simo and Peter Glasson discuss an epic swell in ’74. Glasso recalled this day was some of the biggest and best waves he had ever seen. From SW Vol 19 No.3.
