Les Martin grew up at Cronulla on a healthy diet of heavy waves. A Point and Island regular Chook could always be found not far from the danger zone. This shot from a sequence by Chris Stroh early 80’s.

Les Martin was one of the new kids at The Point when this shot was snapped by Peter Solness around ’76. Along with the White Brothers, Popout, Gary Hughes and Matt Woodcock, the new kids were fearless. Les was a standout at both macking Point and Shark Island. From a Surfing World story on Cronulla.

This classic pic of Les Martin was one of the first images to show Shark Islands true potential. Taken in the mid 70’s by ace cameraman Peter Simmons it has lost little of its awesome impact decades later.
