The original North Cronulla Surf Club was once described as the “finest surf club on the coast”. Built over the beach in October 1937 it stood for only 8 years. Once built, the surf club was battered by a succession of storms in the 1940’s. A huge storm in August 1946 struck the fatal blow. The club could not be saved and was soon after demolished. The new surf club was rebuilt further back in Dunningham Park in 1950, and this is the current location of the surf club now. The image “1946” shows where the old club would have been built.
