When Steve Core brought out his Surf Magazine in the late 70’s Cronulla waves and surfers were suddenly in the spotlight. The Point and Island became a regular feature along with the many unknown locals not previously known outside of The Shire. Here’s Ed Little a hardcore tube junky taken from the pages of Surf photographed by Steve Core.

After Bobby Brown untimely death in a bar fight Frank Latta stepped up as the South Sides next main competition contender . This pic of Frank appeared in Surfing World early 70’s.

The Point has long been a haven for unconventional surf-craft. In the 60’s it was bodysurfers and Paipo riders.During the 70’s Mat and Kneeboard riders were a regular fixture in the lineup and Rob McLaggan was a familiar face riding his Greenough inspired Spoon Kneelos. Rob was also producing Kneeboards for the local crew under The Customline label.
