Early 70s Steve Griffiths was shaping at Peter Clarke Surfboards. This is one of his shapes back then 6ft 9in 19in.

Jack Edens magazine Surfabout had regular features on Cronulla this issue was no different with a 3 page article and a front cover on the Soutshide crew featuring Terry Steen, Gary Birsall, Ian Nolan, Jacko and Dave “Cancer”Coppelson from a session at The Point. Bob Weeks paddled out on a board and took the shots from the channel with his Pentax camera and no housing.

Bob Barker was one of the talented water photographers that was around Cronulla in the late 70’s. Bob seemed to have an extra liking for Shark Island and a fav. subject in Gerry Popout Manion who he captured in the tube below. Photo ’78.

Situated at Elouera Beach the house was washed away in a wild storm early 60’s. In the rare photo below you can see the original building on the right while some guys pose for a pic Circa 40’s or 50’s.

Dog returned to Cronulla from Queensland in the early 80’s with a fire in his belly for competition that wasn’t there before he left Kurnell. Richard was soon winning local comps and Aussie title events when this shot was taken around 83. Photo Chris Stroh

The Christian Surfers former house across from Northies Pub and the Workers Club on the corner of the Kingsway now Ridges. Thats the Cockroach Castle in the background another Cronulla property that has a long history. Circa 70’s.
