In the 70’s the summer weekend 10.00am train to Cronulla was referred to by the locals as The Billy Bankstowner express, delivering another wave of Western Suburbs kids “In yellow T shirts and duffel bags” to the only beach in Sydneys city area with a direct train line.

Serious Polluted waters off Cronulla Beaches led to the Poo march demonstration where a large crowd vented their anger at open ocean outfalls. Several hundred including a guy wrapped in toilet paper marched with banners from The Point to The Alley in protest.Image by Stroh
