The Bando Rd Hangout.

It was back in about 1973 that Brian and Ruby Pringle felt sorry for a bunch of Grommets and allowed them to stash their surfboards under the house in the garage instead of dragging them home on the train. The only other alternative was leaving them at the Age store-a-board. At the time unbeknown to the Prings this would become a tradition that has gone on for decades. There’s plenty of stories about what went on in the garage over the years especially about James Bickerton whose Grom bashings were feared. These resurface at the annual BBQ get togethers.Many of the tales have been embellished over the years but like wine they improve with age The first crew was Lloyd, Kenny, Frog, Mick, Strohy and Maddy. By the 80’s it grew with the likes of Bicko, Scotty, Rowey, Bretto, Lil Strohy,The Lodger and many many others. Glenn and Shane grew up with this constant gathering of surfers around them while Ruby cracked the whip if anyone got out of line. The Pringles are a salt of the earth family and there’s many grateful surfers whose life was turned for the better after meeting them.
