The infamous Cockroach Castle on Gerrale Street before it was demolished in the 90s. It housed wild parties, Gary Hughes playing, squatters and a skate ramps inside. Many a good time was had by the local crew before it was reduced to rubble. Photo BWN.

Throughout the 90s Dane Wilson was at the forefront of the nostalgic longboard resurgence. A classic nose rider Dane was also an all round competitor and free surfer and was not afraid to push the limits of longboard potential in waves of consequences. Photo below of Dane was taken at Shark Island by Tim Vanderlaan around this time.

When the Mal resurgence hit in the 90’s Cronulla pair Brad Whittaker and Dane Wilson were the two standouts on the Southside . Tim Vanderlaan captured this classic retro style pic at Voodoo around that time.

Nugget is best remembered for being the King of The Alley rip bowl lefts. However when the swell was up it was common to see Nugget at Southies or The Point tearing it up as well. This day taken early 90’s goofy footers Nugget , Murph and Jezza took over the Point lineup and went to town. Photo Chris Stroh

Daryl Boogs Vanderpolder earned a reputation in the 90’s as a fearless big wave charger around the surfing world. Daryl growing up in The Shire honed his skills surfing Cronulla’s powerful reef waves. Suckrock was one of Boogs favourite haunts during this time as it was known to serve up some serious wave grunt.
