Rod was 3 times Elouera Club Champion in 81,82 and 85. He had a smooth flowing style but could also throw down some radical turns when he felt like it. This pic was taken during the Elouera -watu swell. The Goofy’s were going berserk getting long long barrels and Rod was a standout. These days Rod lives on the Central Coast and still competes at amateur level and recently took out the Aussie title in his division. Pic Stroh mid 80’s

Lips was one of Elouera contest guns in the 80’s. He was a regular finalist and reliable performer in the Surf League teams events. Andrew was EBC Club President in 88 and 89. These days Lips lives in WA with his wife and kids. This pic was taken mid 80’s showing a typical Lips lip bash at The Dunny’s by Stroh

When Occy won the Pro Junior at Narrabeen he had already established himself as the new rising star of Aussie surfing. Occy was our secret weapon to beat Tom Curren on the world stage. Riding a Wayne Roach shape he never looked like losing in the 3ft Narrabeen lefts. Other finalists included Mark Sainsbury and his Kurnell best mate Richard Marsh who would also claim Australia’s most prestige’s Junior title as well a year or two later. Occy speech photo Stroh

Longtime Cronulla Lifeguard Chris Iredale has spent more time on Cronulla Beach than probably anyone else. He’s witnessed almost every classic swell and always managed to get a surf in while on duty. I remember getting caught inside at Voodoo and loosing the mat I used to shoot photos from which was now heading out to the reefs. He paddled out and got it and booked it in as a surf rescue to help justify why he was out Voodoo in the first place during work hours. In the early ’90s Surfing Life mag asked a bunch of people in the know who was ripping the most at SI. Chris was the most popular vote due to his no guts no glory smooth style approach. Luke was one of The Point regulars in the late 70’s and early 80s. He was known as a gutsy charger and a bit of a wave enforcer out there always vocal and loud towards the non locals. Luke made a name for himself when his image riding a solid Point barrel was used on a Sunkist Orange Juice advertisement that appeared in milkbars all around Australia.
