The “Rolf Rotten” name first went public in a Surfing World story by Peter Simons who captured this pic of Point heavy Rolf Myers screaming out of a Second Reef barrel. During his reign in the 70’s Rolf had all the grommets scared stiff to surf the Point and if you did you risked being in his firing line. He’d either run you over, push you over the falls or just fade you in the pit. When he paddled out his reputation alone could clear the break of non regulars.

For 1963 this photo was pretty rad, with local hottie Lance Fisher pulling into a nice sized Point wave. The shot was captured by Bob Weeks.

It was at a Surfabout comp that Banksy made his first big impact on the World Tour and ended up replacing Cheyne Horan on the Bronze Aussie team. In Narrabeen’s perfect lefts Jimbo was right at home and scored one of the best barrels of the comp. This shot of JB was taken at the ’81 event Photo Stroh

Around 87 Occy lucked into a solid uncrowded session at The Island. This shot captured the Occster stalling on his backside, most other surfers would have been high tailing it out of this section at Whiterock. Photo Chris Stroh

In the mid 80’s a crew of Cronulla soul skaters including Evo, Steve Higgins, Neil Davies and a young Jake Brown were a common sight around the streets of the Sutherland Shire tearing up the local terrain.. Ken Gibbons below wearing the Soul Skaters t’shirt was the skater who influenced all the younger guys, seen here at Flemington photo Chris Stroh around ’85.
