Richard Cram was on fire during this period of his surfing. He had one of the best off the tops in the business. When he rocked up to The Point this day in the 80’s and pulled off moves like this S bend turn he didn’t hold back and proved all the talk about him was right on the money. Photo Stroh Circa 80’s.

The original Cecil Hotel had a rich history full of drunken tales and seedy hangovers. Now on the same block of land lies a skyrise apartment block .The pub was demolished in the early 90’s and just the front structure still remains as a testament to the thousands of goodtimes had behind its doors.Photo Stroh

The Jannali Boys, Ian and brother Donny Revell were regulars in the 70’s at The Island on those big ugly monster days. Ian has some Super 8 footage of the Island from back then that we would love to get hold of. This shot was taken during that famous day when Soulman scored the double spread in Nats History of Surfing book wearing the red steamer. This pic Ian rides the foamball photo Stroh

Gordon and Smith Surfboards with Peter Townend unleashed the Bonza in the mid to later 70’s. The 3 fin concave design was the predecessor to the thruster and built to combat the twin fin but maintain the advantage of a single fin.
