Dean was one of Cronulla Boardriders top performers throughout the 80’s. In ’81 and ’82 he was  the Club Cadet Champion, In 84 he was the Clubs Junior Champ and in ’88 he took out the prestigious Open Club title not an easy task with the calibre of riders who have waved the CBC flag over the years. Pictorial History of Cronulla

 A book published in 1988 dedicated to the history of Cronulla . Coastline shots, the commercial growth of the town, trams and trains and the ever-present water sports of the shire are covered in detail in this heavily illustrated book.Written by Pauline Curby. 128 pages, black & white. A4 format. Its still available.Picture on the cover featured The Point back in the day.

Gary Hughes

From the pages of Steve Cores “Surf Magazine” that was around in the late 70’s. Gary Hughes carving for Dave Shaw’s camera lens. Core’s mag was chock full of Cronulla based riders and waves  and it gave the Southside some much deserved recognition and a breath of fresh air rather than the usual Northside push in all the other Oz publications at the time.

Voodoo

Not sure where the name Voodoo came from but with a desolate and unforgiving coastline its no wonder Captain Cook did’t  land here. The reef itself is just as intimidating and lives up to its eerie reputation with regular reminders that this is one wave you don’t take for granted as this surfer below is about to find out.

Voodoo Wrecks
